Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 2026

At Ojunai, we believe your business data belongs to you. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it safe. We've written this in plain language because we want you to actually read it.

1. Information We Collect

When you use Ojunai, we collect the following types of information:

  • Account information: Your name, phone number, email address, business name, business type, and city — provided during signup
  • Business data: Sales, expenses, inventory, contacts, debts, and other records you create through the platform
  • WhatsApp messages: Messages you send to and receive from the Ojunai bot, stored as conversation history to provide context for future interactions
  • Usage data: Basic information about how you use the dashboard (pages visited, features used) to help us improve the product
  • Device and browser information: Standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and device type — collected automatically when you visit our website or dashboard

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Deliver the service: Process your WhatsApp messages, record transactions, generate reports, and display your dashboard
  • AI processing: Your WhatsApp messages are sent to our AI provider (Claude by Anthropic) to understand your intent and extract transaction details. The AI does not write directly to your database — it only parses your messages, and our backend executes the actions
  • Billing: Process subscription payments, send payment reminders, and manage your plan
  • Communication: Send you daily/weekly business summaries, low-stock alerts, and important service updates via WhatsApp
  • Improvement: Understand usage patterns to improve features, fix bugs, and build a better product

We will never use your business data for advertising, sell it to third parties, or share it with other businesses.

3. Payment Data

All payment processing is handled by our payment partners:

  • Paystack — primarily for payments in Nigeria
  • Flutterwave — for other African markets and international payments

We do not store your credit card numbers, bank account details, or mobile money PINs. These are processed and secured entirely by our payment providers, who are PCI-DSS compliant. We only receive confirmation of successful or failed payments.

4. WhatsApp Messages

Your WhatsApp messages to the Ojunai bot are:

  • Processed by AI: Each message is sent to Claude (by Anthropic) for natural language understanding. The AI extracts your intent (e.g., "record a sale") and returns structured data. It does not store your messages independently
  • Stored for context: Your recent message history is kept in our database so the bot can understand follow-up messages and provide relevant responses
  • Not shared with third parties: We do not share your message content with anyone other than our AI provider for the purpose of processing your requests
  • Delivered via Twilio: WhatsApp message delivery is powered by Twilio's WhatsApp Business API. Twilio processes messages in transit but does not access or use your message content for their own purposes

5. Data Sharing

We share your data only with the service providers necessary to operate Ojunai:

  • Anthropic (Claude AI): Receives your WhatsApp messages for natural language processing. Subject to Anthropic's privacy policy
  • Twilio: Delivers WhatsApp messages between you and the bot. Subject to Twilio's privacy policy
  • Paystack / Flutterwave: Process subscription payments. Subject to their respective privacy policies

We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We do not share your business records, customer lists, or financial data with any party not listed above.

6. Data Retention

  • Active accounts: Your data is retained for as long as your account is active
  • Cancelled accounts: After cancellation, your data is retained for 90 days in case you reactivate. After that, it is permanently deleted
  • Export: You can export your business data at any time from the dashboard (on eligible plans)
  • Deletion requests: You can request full deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing contact@ojunai.com. We will process deletion requests within 30 days

7. Security

We take the security of your data seriously:

  • Encryption in transit: All connections use HTTPS/TLS encryption
  • Encrypted storage: Sensitive data is encrypted at rest in our database
  • Access controls: Role-based access ensures staff members only see what the business owner permits
  • Server security: Our infrastructure is hosted on hardened servers with firewalls, SSH key-only access, and intrusion detection
  • Daily backups: Automated daily database backups ensure your data can be recovered in the event of an incident

No system is 100% secure. If we ever discover a data breach that affects your account, we will notify you within 72 hours.

8. Your Rights

Aligned with the Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and GDPR principles, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you and your business
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information in your account
  • Deletion: Request permanent deletion of your account and data
  • Portability: Export your business data in standard formats (CSV) from the dashboard
  • Objection: Object to specific uses of your data — we will comply where legally required

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@ojunai.com.

9. Cookies & Analytics

We keep tracking minimal:

  • The Ojunai website and dashboard use only essential cookies required for authentication and session management
  • We do not use third-party advertising trackers, social media pixels, or cross-site tracking
  • We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns (e.g., which features are most used), but never to identify or profile individual users

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes:

  • We will notify you via WhatsApp message or email
  • The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will be revised
  • Continued use of the service after notification constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
